Paul Collins was born in Newfoundland and moved to Alberta in 1966.  He worked as a welder until 1977 and started his first business in 1978. After that business failed he started Collins Steel in 1984 and is still active today under the ownership and direction of his sons. Paul has served on Christian and secular boards since being in business including the Alberta Apprenticeship for Steel Fabricating; the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction;  Careers the next Generation; President of the Wild Rose Party; Athletes International Ministry; West Edmonton Mall Chapel; Treasure Chest Ministry; and  Devon Minor Hockey.

Paul received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Eric Newell Award of Excellence, and was Inducted into the Alberta Business Hall of fame in 2019.
